This was a hat worn during ceremonial events held by the Order of Malta. This was a group that was closely related to a group called the “Knights of Malta” in the Middle Ages.

Oil Lamp

These lamps were the traditional lighting system and usually families in Goldsboro would have one lamp and some had at least two or three to be able to see to go into one room or another. These lamps used oil. Normally, these lamps were just plain glass with no decoration.
