This object was used to curl and press hair. In order to use this, one would have to heat it up on the stove. Some women, but not all, had these in their homes.

This object was to curl hair. In order to curl ones hair, this would have to be heated on the stove. This is the equivalent to the modern day curling iron. Some women had these in their homes.
Hot Comb
This specific item was used to straighten hair by heating on the stove in the late 1800’s. This is the equivalent to a modern day flat iron. Most ladies had at least one hot comb in the house.
Decorative Hair Combs
This type of comb was used for special occasions. When women would get dressed up, these would be used as hair accessories.
Jewelry Box
Jewelry boxes were used, and still are used, to hold jewelry. Some people had them, but others used tin boxes to hold their jewelry in.
Security Equipment
These things were worn and carried around by people of authority such as policemen and security guards.
